8 precincts, 40 art sites, 80+ artists across Melbourne City
Wednesday 23 July 6pm–late…
There is a global trend changing the way people view art. Internationally, new dynamic art events are being created, such as Gallery Weekend Berlin, Hong Kong Artwalk and Roppongi Art Night in Tokyo.
Nite Art 2014 is an interconnected web between artists, art sites and art lovers. It delivers a new experience to navigate the city with pathways to art. For 2014, Nite Art presents its own curatorial platform, featuring artists Zoe Croggon, Michaela Gleave, Joe Hamilton, Sam Leach, Luke Paulding, Sarah Hendy, Eric Demetriou and Roger Alsop. With eight precincts, 40 art sites, 80-plus artists and growing, Melbournians can explore sites across the city including commercial galleries, artist–run spaces, museums and unusual architectural spaces.
Nite Art highlights Melbourne’s architectural and cultural assets through the lens of artistic responses. We’d like to thank Open House Melbourne, The City of Melbourne, The University of Melbourne, Ian Potter Museum of Art, ACMI, NGV Studio and Bank of Melbourne for helping us to grow this year.
Nite Art is a not-for-profit event and digital platform, co-created by a group of creative industry professionals wanting new ways to talk about and experience art in Melbourne. United by a shared passion for contemporary art, and influenced by visual arts and culture, founding partners include Deborah Stahle, founder of Artwalk Melbourne; Andrea Nixon of branding and communications consultancy, Nixon Counsel; Andrew Ashton, leading communication and creative specialist, writer and artist behind Work Art Life; and Jason McQuoid, director of new photography gallery, Edmund Pearce.
